With a background in law enforcement and a bachelor of commerce from Otago, Michael has built a great knowledge while being involved in the current prison system. Knowing the current operating module of how New Zealand prisons work, there is an identified a weakness and he feels that modern and emerging technology should be incorporated and used to protect people across a range of industries and in particular, a prison environment. When it comes to a prisoner’s welfare, old outdated methods, most definitely need redesigning. Persons at risk of self-harm and/or suicide are extremely vulnerable, especially in the prison system. These are the people that need the extra support and assistance, while under the care of others.
